ACADEMICS

The University of New Haven offers more than 100 academic programs, all grounded in a longstanding commitment to collaborative, interdisciplinary, project-based learning.

The broad curriculum supports a wide range of potential majors, including:

The University of New Haven is the official academic provider for Verto Education, and delivers all courses, credits, and official transcripts at Verto study abroad locations. This means that you will not have to worry about transferring any of your credits taken abroad!

FINANCES

UNewHaven offers a comprehensive financial aid program, with students receiving assistance in the form of grants, scholarships, student loans, and part-time employment.

Funds are available from federal and state governments, private sponsors, and from university resources. More than 95 percent of the University’s full-time undergraduate students receive some form of financial assistance.

STUDENT LIFE

Student Organizations: From the 150+ student organizations and the 3,000+ campus events held each year to the University’s competitive Division II athletics program, being bored is not an option at Charger Nation. Whether it’s Greek Life, academic clubs & organizations, or special interest groups, there’s something here for everyone.

Housing: The University of New Haven campus isn’t just where you go to class. It’s also where you learn to live on your own, make lifelong friends, participate in campus recreation, organize activities, and more! The University offers students ten on-campus residence halls, two off-campus housing complexes, and a college village consisting of two apartment buildings — all ranging from traditional residence halls to townhouses and  apartment-style suites.

Study Abroad: In addition to over 100 study abroad programs, the University of New Haven opened its first international satellite campus in Prato, Italy in the fall of 2012. The historic city of Prato offers students an authentic Italian cultural experience. While experiencing life abroad, students will have the opportunity to enroll full-time in classes taught by both University of New Haven and Italian faculty. All tuition and fees remain the same as if students were attending the main campus in West Haven, Connecticut – the only difference in price is the cost of airfare.

To earn guaranteed transfer admission to the University of New Haven through the Direct Transfer Pathway, during your time with Verto you will need:

  • 2.5+ cumulative GPA
  • Minimum 12 credits

UNewHaven offers a broad curriculum and over 100 different majors, including:

Verto participants are not eligible for Dental Hygiene, Online Business Management, Online Accounting or Online Paramedicine programs. 

Engineering and Forensic Science are not included in the DT pathway and requires a 3.0+ cumulative college GPA. Interested students will need to direct-apply.

Yes! UNew Haven welcomes both fall and spring transfers from Verto.

Choose from our main campus in West Haven, Connecticut, or continue your experience abroad with a semester at our international satellite campus in Prato, Italy! The West Haven campus offers students the benefits of both suburban living and close proximity to major metropolitan areas such as New Haven and New York City, while the historic city of Prato, Italy is just 25 minutes from Florence and less than two hours from Rome by train.

Yes! UNewHaven does allow students to complete the AS degree with us online or at the main campus in West Haven, CT.

While you won’t be eligible for the guarantee, we still encourage you to work with your Verto Care Team to prepare and submit a Verto Partner Application for holistic review.

You are still eligible for the Direct Transfer guarantee to the University of New Haven! The 2.5 GPA requirement is cumulative of all college transcripts. Please note that all previous college/university transcripts are required.  

For students who were homeschooled or have High School Equivalency and less than 12 earned college credits at time of application will need to follow the University of New Haven Home School Policy.

For students who have completed more than 12 college credits, New Haven requires proof of high school graduation: “home-schooled students must provide proof of their completion of secondary school that verifies that the student has met graduation requirements from their state or school district. This can be achieved by submitting a final transcript with a graduation date, official high school equivalency diploma, or a high school diploma recognized by the applicant’s state of residency.”

Yes, international students are eligible for the Direct Transfer Pathway.

Once you arrive to your Verto location, you can begin working with Verto staff to prepare your application to UNewHaven. Applications are typically sent following mid-terms, so your mid-term report can demonstrate your progress towards Direct Transfer eligibility.

Students can expect to receive any admissions updates 4-6 weeks after the application has been submitted. All information will be communicated via email.

Work with your Verto Care Team to reapply during your additional semester.

You are able to apply to study at the Prato campus through the Verto Partner Application. Please indicate on the application which campus you are looking to attend. Once accepted, you will work with the University of New Haven Study Abroad Office on the next steps. 

Additional notes about studying at Prato:

  • Students who plan to study at our Prato campus are required to submit a $300 enrollment fee by June 1st to reserve their spot. 

Students applying for the Fall semester will need to be accepted to the University of New Haven and submit the additional study abroad application by early May. 

Students applying for the Spring semester will need to be accepted to the University of New Haven and submit the additional study abroad application by early October.
